Waterford is now home to a fantasic 46km long cycle paved off road cycle path known as the "Waterford Greenway".

The Greenway is constructed over a disused coastal railway line and taking in a spectacular route going between coastal, mountain and historical scenery, Waterford Greenway is an excellent day out for families, couples and cycling enthusiasts.

The Waterford Greenway has an easy going gradient and plenty of rest and refreshment oppurtunities along the way.

We are an ideal base and accomodation for anyone looking to spend a few days exploring Waterfords fantastic new Greenway. We are delighted to provide secure indoor bike storage to anyone coming to vist the Waterford Greenway.

You can reach the Greenway enterance at Kilmacthomas or Durrow from our accomodation via a short (30 minute cycle) or a very short (5 minute) drive. We will also provide a free drop off and collection service to any cyclists looking to get straight on the Greenway from our accomodation.

Golf is well catered for in County Waterford. There are three golf courses around Dungarvan, West Waterford Golf and Country Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and Dungarvan Golf Club, known as the Golfing Triangle. Further west is Lismore Golf Club.

Golf Clubs also located in Waterford City, at Waterford Castle, Tramore, Dunmore East and Faithlegg. Williamstown is Waterford’s municipal golf club. There are also driving ranges in Tramore and Tinhalla near Carrick on Suir.

Surfing is very popular with surf schools in Tramore and in Bonmahon.


  • The Suir and Blackwater rivers are renowned for salmon and trout.
  • Shore fishing for bass, flounder at Ballydowane, Bunmahon, Kilfarrassey and Stradbally;
  • Dunabrattin Head is popular for rock fishing.
  • Fly fishing on Carrickavantry and Ballyscanlon Lakes, Knockaderry Reservoir and Ballyshunnock Reservoir: Permits available from Centra Supermarket, Kilmeaden.
  • Deep sea angling boats available for hire at Dungarvan and Dunmore East;

  • Trail cards for various walks around the Copper Coast are available from Copper Coast Geopark Centre and can also be downloaded from their website.
  • Anne Valley Walk, Dunhill.
  • The Comeragh Mountains is ideal for walkers, the walk to the Mahon Falls is very attractive.
  • The Nire Valley is a well known walking area and has an Annual Autumn Walking Festival.
